Since it was set up in 1994 the UK National Lottery has given £2 billion to the arts, and within England it is the Arts Council England that decides who that money goes to. Between 2011 and 2015 the Arts Council England will allocate £1 billion from the National Lottery and £1.4 billion from public coffers raised through taxes.
